anhui tour1 Go to see one of the most beautiful scenic mountains in China — Mt. Huangshan, and see ordinary Chinese farmers in the ancient villages, and Buddhist Jiuhua Mountain. This tour takes bicycle as the main means of transportation, offering you a chance to get much closer to the ordinary people, see and understand something in depth about Real China! Arrive in Huangshan every Friday and Exit from Hefei every Monday. Destinations includes: Shexian County, Yixian County, Huangshan City, Huangshan Scenic Mountain, Taiping Lake, Jiuhua Buddhist Mountain, Hefei City. This tour is designed for young and energetic people, who loves out-door exercises, culture, architecture and experiencing different customs of local people. Bicycles are provided by LonelyChina but you may take your own bicycles if you prefer.

Cycling distance is generally controlled within a limit of no more than 50 km per day. Part of the long distance trip is arranged to go by bus. Hotel accommodation is economy one, twn rooms with private bathroom.

Itenary:

Day 1. (Friday)

Arrive in Huangshan City by flight from Hong Kong. Huangshan City was named after the scenic Huangshan Mountain in its north. Huangshan Mountain, in East China’s Anhui Province, embraces almost all the wonders of mountain scenery. It was acknowledged by UNESCO as a world cultural and natural heritage. Upon arrival transferred to Hotel (3 star).

Day 2. (Saturday)

This morning cycle around in Tunxi. See the old Song Dynasty commercial street. And cycle to explore the mystery Flower Mountain Caves beside the Xin’an River. The giganic man-made caves can hold several army forces. It is still unknown to the world when and why the caves were dugged.(B/L/D)

Day 3. (Sunday)

Today cycling to Shexian (Huangshan City to Shexian 27 km). Visit to Tangyue Village to see the Tangyue Memorial Archways, which were erected in Ming and Qing Dynasty (1368-1911). Seven exquisitely carved memorial archways stand on the road leading to Tangyue Village. Each archway tells a story, reflecting loyalty, filial piety, virtue and comradeship, which are the nucleus of Chinese feudal ethics. After sightseeing cycle back to Huangshan City. Day 4. (Monday)

Morning cycling to Xidi Village in Yixian County (Huangshan City to Yixian 55 km). Stay overnight in a local guesthouse. (B/L/D)

Day 5. (Tuesday)

Morning continue to visit in Hongcun Village. After lunch cycle to Huangshan Mountain (Yixian to Mt. Huangshan 100 km, cycling distance is controlled at a limit of no more than 50 km per day. Part of the trip is arranged to go by bus). Accommodation at Taoyuan Hotel (3 star) Huangshan, in East China’s Anhui Province, embraces almost all the wonders of mountain scenery: spectacular rocky peaks, odd-shaped pines, a vast sea of clouds, and crystal-clear hot springs. Huangshan keeps changing in different moments, weathers and seasons. One will never see all the true features of this “veiled beauty.” In 1985, Huangshan was cited as one of China’s 10 Best Scenic Spots. Day 6 (Wedesday)

Morning continues sightseeing on top of the mountain. After lunch down off the mountain. Cycle to Taiping Town at foot of Huangshan Mountain (53 km). Accommodation at a lake-side hotel (2 star). (B/L/D)

Day 7 (Thursday)

Morning sightseeing around the Taiping Lake. After lunch, take bus to Jiuhua Mountain. (100 km). Accommodation at 3 star hotel. Jiuhua Mountain stands 53 kilometers south of the Yangtze River. It is one of the famous four Buddhist Mountains in China. (The other three are Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province, Wutai Mountain in Shanxi Province and Putuo Mountain in Zhejiang Province.) The mountain consists of 99 peaks, covering an area of 120 square kilometers. During the Tang Dynasty (618-907), Prince Kim Gio Gak of the Kingdom of Silla on present-day Korean Peninsula came to Jiuhua Mountain and became a monk there. A long time after his death, his corpse was found intact and so people regard him as the reincarnation of Ksitigarbha and held him in respect. From then on, people take Jiuhua Mountain as the place to worship Ksitigarbha. Large numbers of temples were built or rebuilt during the following dynasties of Song (960-1279), Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1636-1911). (B/L/D)

Day 8 (Friday)

Full day sightseeing Jiuhua Mountain. On the mountain there are at present more than 80 large and small temples with 1,500 Buddhist statues. Sightseeing include visits to the Huachen Temple (now a museum), regarded as the first-built temple in the mountain; the Roushen Golden Stupa, which contains the remains of Kim Gio Gak; the Bai Sui Gong Palace, which housed a intact mummy body of a Tang Dynasty Monk. In the evening see the Buddhist Praying Ceremony.(B/L/D)

Day 9 (Saturday)

After lunch take bus to Hefei, capital of Anhui Province. Accommodation at a 3 star hotel.(B/L/D)

Day 10 (Sunday)

Visit to the Temple of Baozhen, Tomb of Baozhen, Jiaonu Rostrum and Xiaoyaojin Park. Accommodation at 3 star hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 11 (Monday)
