Within the Changbaishan region itself hotels are all fairly steeply priced, considering their location in the cold and rural north. If you are here your best bet is to stay in the village of Baihe, where either hospitable locals will take you in for the night, or the local hotels will put you up for very reasonable prices. For those with money to spare the hotels on the mountain are well equipped and with convenient location. All of these will charge you a wholesome RMB500 or there abouts.
The best hotel on the slopes is probably the Swiss-style Cuckoo Villa (Changbaishan dujuan shanzhuang, Tel.: 0433-571-2574) which is fairly priced for the mountain and which has comfortable facilities including a hot spring bath and ski hire. The Athletes Village (Changbaishan yundongyuan cun), comes a close second to this, also with decent facilities. Less decent, although handy for those here to visit the Heavenly Lake, is the Tianchi Hotel (Changbaishan tianchi binguan), which is located by the main gate to the Lake. The final hotel worth mentioning is the Changbaishan Hotel (Changbaishan fandian) that is of similar standards to those above.
Baihe village, itself, is around two hours from the Heavenly Lake, but is easily the best place for anyone on a budget. The cheapest and most interesting way to stay here is to try and get a bed with the local villagers. The locals are used to offering accommodation to travelers and the prices can be as low as RMB20 per bed. There are hotels here, that are decently priced and comfortable if a little spartan, the easiest and most convenient is the Railway Hotel (Tielu zhaodaisuo). Also worth trying are the Yalin Hotel (Yalin binguan, Tel. 0433-571-0526) or the Changbaishan Hotel (Changbaishan fandian, Tel.: 0433-571-6983). Much more expensive is the Baiyun Hotel (Baiyun binguan).
