The Xumifushouzhi Miao (Temple of Smneru Happiness and Longevity; ~25),just southwest of Puning Si, is being restored and much of it is closed to tine public; the parts that are open are not in a good state of repair. The temple was built in 1780 for the ill-fated sixth Panchen Lama (see p.171) when he came to Belling to pay his respects to the emperor. Built in Mongolian style, its centrepiece is the Hall of Loftiness and Solemnity, its finest feature the eight sinuous gold dragons, each weighing over a thousand kilograms, sitting on the roof.
