Chongqing Police Arrest Drug Dealers
The police in this southwest China metropolis arrested earlier this month four suspected drug dealers and confiscated more than 50 kg of heroin.
The case is said to be the largest involving drug trafficking that has ever occurred in the city since the People’s Republic of China was founded in 1949.
The police also seized 129,000 yuan (about 15,650 U.S. dollars) in drug funds and two vehicles used to transport drugs.
The drug dealers confessed that they had bought the heroin from a citizen of Myanmar in early June and sold drugs mixed with coffee in Chongqing
Chongqing Police Uncover “Ice” Trafficking Case
Chongqing Municipal Police in southwest China recently confiscated dozens of “ice” tablets and more than 360 grams of heroin from a man hoping to sell them in entertainment spots.
Local police said this is the first time they have uncovered “ice” in the inland region; previously the drug appeared only in coastal cities and southwestern Yunnan province.
Huang Wenhua, the suspect, told police he bought the 64 orange-colored “ice” pills outside China, intending to sell them to young people in discos, bars and karaoke parlors.
The local police also investigated another first-time case of drug selling in entertainment centers, seizing over 200 pills of the drug “Ecstasy,” known in China as the “head-rocking pill” and 16 grams of cocaine for the first time.
