In Dunhuang, there are actually two separate establishments named the Dunhuang Hotel in English (but they each have different Chinese names). This hotel, the Dunhuang Hotel (Dunhuang binguan) is a four-star hotel, built to cater to the influx of foreign tourists after 1976. The hotel is located a few blocks east of Dunhuang’s main traffic circle, about 13km from the airport and 25km to the Mogao Grottoes.

The hotel has a elegantly decorated lobby with a classic fountain. The hotel consists of three buildings and has different rooms ranging from standard double to deluxe suites. For those who want to go all out, there is also a presidential suite. All the rooms are comfortably equipped.

There are also various restaurants within the hotel providing both Chinese and Western food. For recreation, the hotel has a sauna center, karaoke rooms, a bar and a coffee shop. There is also a performances of folk dances in evenings when the hotel has enough interested guests. Tickets cost RMB30 per person.

Others amenities include meeting and conference rooms, a business center, shopping arcade and currency exchange desk, where you can change money even on Sundays.
