Gniyang’s airport lies 15km east of town, a RMB50 taxi ride to the center. You’ll find Guizhou Airlines (0851/5982879 or 5981967) and China Southern (0851/5828429) near each other on Zunyi Lu. They’re open daily 8.30am-5.30pm. At the time of writing there was no airport bus, and taxis charged RMB50 to the airport. Before buying a bus ticket, note that it’s often faster and more comfortable to get to Kaili, Zunyi or Liupanshui by train. For anywhere outside the province, and cities within, head to the main bus station on the corner of Yan’an Xi Lu and Zhaoshan Lu. The Tiyu station has more frequent luxury coaches and minibuses to Anshun, Zunyi, and Kaili; down towards the train station on Zunyi Lu, you’ll find sleeper buses to Xingyi, Liupanshui and Zunyi, and minibuses to Kaili, lined up on the kerbed; this is also the place to find early-morning day-trips to Huangguoshu, for which you buy tickets on the day.
