The airport is 2km south of town on Jichang Lu; bus #10 runs up to Haikou Park from outside, or catch the shuttle (RMB5) to the China Southern office on Haixiu Dong Lu. The New Port is north off Changed Dadao on Xingang Lu, where most ferries from Hong Kong and the mainland pull in.

Flying is the easiest way out of Haikou, with the city connected to Sanya and main- land locations between Harbin, Kunming, and Hong Kong. Tickets for all airlines can be reserved at agents (see “Listings”, p.689) or the China Southern office (0898/66763166, 66723460; daily 8am-10.30pm), next to the Civil Aviation Hotel on Haixiu Dong Lu.
