Although repeatedly affected by severe typhoons coming off the South China Sea, the pearl cultivation industry still flourishes in Xincun, south of Lingshui County, simply because of the excellent quality of the salt water pearls produced here. The Hailing Pearl Cultivation Farm (Hailing Zhenzhu Yangzhichang) is one of Hainan’s most famous pearl production centers. The sea water cultivation fields are divided by ropes and floating barriers into seperate sections for the cultivation of different types of pearl.

This pearl farm is famous for producing the largest ever pearl cultivated in China. Visitors to the cultivation center can witness the whole process of pearl production and processing, and can purchase a lasting memory of a trip to Hainan. How to get there: Take a minibus from Lingshui County to Xincun and the cultivation farm is near the local Telecommunication Bureau office (Dianhuaju) building in Xincun.
