As a world famous tourist city, there are a wealth of good hotel’s in Hangzhou. Accommodation here can be a problem in the summer months so it is advisable to book ahead whenever you can. You can also book your hotel on the train form Nanjing or Shanghai ! But the choice here is limited and language barriers can be a problem.

There are a few hotels scattered around the edges of the lake which afford gorgeous views of Hangzhou’s most famous site. These places vary in standards but most of the hotels in these parts are fairly good. Top of the range is the Hangzhou Shangri La. This really is a top class hotel and rated as one of the top Shangri La Hotels in the world. If you really want luxury and indulgence, then this is the place to get it. There are other less ostentatious but still comfortable and elegant places throughout the city.

At the bottom end of the market, there is noticeably less choice but even the three star places are still pretty good value for money. In the quieter seasons, many of these places will also give you a reduction if you ask nicely! Hangzhou can get very busy though, and the five star hotels are often fully booked at the weekends.
