Dongfang Jiaozi Wang 39 Zhongyang Dajie. The place to be seen in Harbin, with a wait often required for a table. The dumplings here are so good, you may be loathe to leave. Everyone else seems to linger for another draught beer, another plate of food.

Harbin RestaurantsHuamei 142 Zhongyang Jie. Patronized chiefly by tourists, this is Harbin’s only authentic Russian restaurant, and the fairly Western food is eaten with knives and forks. Though a little pricey expect to pay at least ~100 per person - the meals (especially the stroganoff) are good, and make a change from local cuisine. You can even indulge yourself with caviar.

Jiachangcai Off Zhongyang Dajie and across from the post office, this 24hr restaurant serves cheap eats and beer.

Korean BBQ Corner of Zhongyang Dajie and Xi Badaojie. Pricey, but clean and sumptuous.

Ri Yue Tan 502 Xinyang Lu. Formerly the KK disco, now Harbin’s most popular restaurant.
Laden with local meat-and-mushroom concoctions, such as xiaoji dun mo gu (chicken and
mushrooms).
