The scenic area of Canyan Mountain (Cangyan shan) , 70km southwest of Shijiazhuang, is impressive, especially for the monastery erected high on the cliff. The Longxin Monastery , in Zhengding County, is most noted for the 21 meter high bronze statue of 1,000 armed, 1,000 headed Guanyin, Goddess of Mercy, dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD).

Qinhuangdao, and two towns, Beidaihe and Shanhaiguan. The beach resort of Beidaihe and the sights of Shanhaiguan are more interesting destinations.
