Although Jilin City is one of the province’s largest cities, there is little accommodation available here for foreigners. What is available is also not cheap and travelers here should expect to be paying middle prices for any hotel they select. For those not worrying about money there is a further glitch: there are no really top quality hotels in the city. Prices of all of the hotels will shoot up over January and February, during the Ice Lantern Festival.
At the mid-top end, hotels are best selected for either their location or their facilities. Best located is the Jiangcheng Hotel on the northern bank of the bend in the Songhua River. The Yinhe Hotel is a better serviced hotel, a Hong Kong joint venture and the first three star in town. With the best scenery, but a little far out, is the Xiguan Hotel.
For budget travelers, the Dongguan Hotel is probably the cheapest hotel here, with decent enough service. This hotel should charge about RMB280 per room.
The Crystal Hotel (Wusong binguan),the only four star hotel in Jilin city, opened in 1996. The hotel is designed in a European villa style and consists of three buildings.The hotel has 157 various standard rooms, including deluxe rooms and suites, all equipped with DDD/IDD telephone, satellite TV, air-conditioning, mini-bar, fax machine and computer plug in Business Suite, cooking utensils and dining room in apartment.
The Century Swissbel Hotel (Shiji dafandian) has a typical opulent style of the late 19th century Europe, incorporated with aspects of chinese culture. It is located near the beautiful Songhua River, enjoying a great view and convenient transport link. It is only 8 minutes drive from the railway station and 20 minutes from the airport.
One of the cheaper deal hotels in Jilin City is the Dongguan Hotel (Dongguan binguan) located just beside the Jiangcheng Hotel. Well located but a little scruffy. The Jiangcheng Square and one of the biggest shopping centers is within walking distance of this two star hotel.There are 117 rooms ranging from standard doubles, single rooms, triples to suites.
The Jilin International Hotel (Guoji dajiudian) is conveniently located opposite the railway station. This is definitely one of the better options on offer in Jilin City. The hotel has 191 rooms, ranging from standard room to business suites, and all of these are fitted out to three star standards: IDD telephones, air-conditioning, fridge and even satellite TV.
The Jiangcheng Hotel (Jiangcheng binguan) is one of Jilin Cities plushest three stars. The seven storey hotel is located next to Qingnian Park, across the road from both the Catholic Church and the Songhua River. This is pretty much the heart of the city, if you can pinpoint one, just a short distance from the railway station and about a 40 minute drive from the International Airport.
Shen Zhou Hotel (Shenzhou Dasha) is a 3 star hotel located by Songhuajiang River, only 2 km to the the railway station. Hence the transportation is relatively convenient.There are standard rooms/suites. The large and small sized restaurants, KTV boxes, ballroom and laundry are also available.
The Xiguan Hotel (Xiguan binguan) is one of the prettiest hotels in Jilin City, helped out enormously by having the only proper garden of the hotels here. The only downside of this hotel is that it is a little far away from the main areas of the city, but this is not too much of a problem since the distance is not unmanageable.The hotel has four buildings, all in different styles, with rooms ranging from standard doubles to presidential suites.
The Yan Ji Hotel ( Yanji Binguan ) is a 4-star hotel, situated in the side of picturesque Youth Lake, adjacent to the People’s Park. It only needs 5-15 minutes to go airport,railway station and prosperous area in the downtown.The hotel features unique European-style architecture and elegant, classic deco.The hotel has all kinds of rooms, Chinese-Western restaurants and entertainment facilities.
The Yinhe Hotel (Yinhe dasha) is nestled on the eastern bank of the Songhua River. Staying in the hotel, you will get a fascinating view of Jilin city, rimed trees in winter, which is unique and one of the best attractions in northeast China. The hotel is quite a hike from the main railway station. This hotel was the first three star in Jilin City, a Hong Kong joint venture, and it is one of the better options here.
