It is only in recent years that Kaifeng has really become a tourist destination of any kind, and it still has a long way to go before it will become a real hot spot for foreigners, so don’t expect to find the Ritz or Shangri-la here.

However, there are usually a sufficient number of hotel rooms here and there are several hotels, which, although not especially luxurious, offer clean and comfortable accommodation.

The Dongjing Hotel is a standard Chinese style hotel, offering decent accommodation at reasonable prices. Many of the staff here also speak English. The Kaifeng guesthouse is perhaps the most attractive place to stay in the city. This is a charming old Russian building in a good location offering a wide variety of accommodation to suit all budgets and tastes.

There are numerous budget hotels here that accept foreigners, many are well equipped but inexpensive. The Bian Hotel near the railway station is especially good value for money.
