Taklamakan Desert, which means in Uigur ‘enter and never return’, swallows almost everything near it. The Taklamakan is bordered on 3 sides by some of the highest mountain ranges in the world: to the north, by the Heavenly Mountains (Tian Shan); to the west, by the Pamirs (Roof of the World); and to the south, by the Karakoram and Kunlun Mountains. To the east lie the Lop Nor and Gobi Deserts. The infamous Taklamakan had been feared and cursed by travellers for more than 2,000 years. It once was a Go-If-You-Dare tour.

Today, however, tourists can have a good view of the splendid and boundless desert on camel’s back, while enjoying the beautiful fishing in the reservoir.
