Day 1Lanzhou city Yongdeng county
Riding out of Lanzhou 20 kilometers you will find a fork.
The left way goes to Xining high way. The right way leads to 312 high way to Yongdeng, and this is the way of silk road.
The road is in good condition. It is a uphill slope. Going along ZhuangLang river, you will reach Yongdeng.
Day 2 Yongdeng county Tianzhu county Wushao ridge Gulang county
Yongdeng is at the right side of Qilian mountain. The mountain road from Yongdeng to Tianzhu county is a gentle slope, being in good condition. Riding more that ten kilometers you reach Tianzhu county boundary. The scenery become more beautiful. Plants, forest, grassland appear in your eyes. When you have passed Tianzhu county, you will feel you are in a picture. You could see Ma ya snow mountain, towering white poplar, beautiful rape field. Going out of Tianzhu, you have to climbs Wushao ridge. The road out of Tianzhu is flat, gentle uphill slope, but the last 3 kilometers is steep. Temperature is low here, so you should keep warm. The road from Tianzhu to Gulang is all down hill slope, so you must take care.
Day 3 Gulang Wuwei Yongchang
Going along the 312 high way, you will find out that all the way from Gulang to Wei ji is down hill. The road is in good condition. Wuwei is at an altitude of 1530meters. With the lowering of altitude, the scenery turns from mountain pasture land to farm. In the after noon you will pass Wuwei, an important town in the silk road. The kilometers road from Wuwei to Yongchany is going the uphill slope.
Day 4-5 Yongchang county Shandan county Zhangye city
The road condition on the 4th day is came as the day before. The road is exhausting because it is a long gentle uphill slope. The top of the slope is shandan, which is at an latitude of 2200 meters. The way from Shandan county to zhangye city is down hill slope. The road is flat and in good condition. The scenery on the way is desolate, you will see a lot of remains of ancient Great wall.
Day 6-7 Zhangye city Linze conty Gaotai county Qingshuipu Jiuquan the Jiayuguan pass
The journey on the 6th day is long, so you should start off art early time. The way from Zhangye to Gaotai is 80 kilometers long. There is no special scenery on the way. All the thing you should do is ride. You go uphill when you pass Gaotai. Riding 70 kilometers from Gaotai you go downhill. There you enter Gobi.
At night you could reach an oasis on the Gobi dessert Qingshuipu town.
The road on the 7th day is gentle uphill slope. You would enter Jiuquan city this day. Haring a rest in Jiuquan, you should rush to Jiayuguan pass. The road from Qingshuipu to Qiuquan is 70 kilometers long, from Qiuquan to Jiayuguan pass 20 kilometers long, both are high quality.
Day 8-9 Jiayuguan pass Yumen town Anxi
The high way goes up and down on the Gobi desert.
The Han dynasty remains has been petrified, standing on the earth. The wind is strong here. You would feel bitter if you encounter head wind.
You will see a lot of diversiform leaved poplar when you enter yu men town. You could see Ya dan Land form at Bulongji town near An xi county on the 9th day.
Day 10 Anxi Dunhuang
First you should go south from Anxi. Riding about 20 kilometers then you go south west. This day you should check your bicycle in advance, because the road is not in good condition. All the things beside the road is the Gobi dessert, in the sunshine. Today destination, Dunhunang, is cream of ancient Chinese culture.
