Leshan is a popular destination in itself due to the fame of housing the biggest Buddha in the world and the fact that this is a pretty and quiet city, providing a nice break from the bustle of city-life in Chengdu.
Most hotels in Leshan are relatively new and the staff here tend to be very friendly! The hotels in Leshan are generally situated in one of two locations, either in the heart of the small city or in the Grand Buddha area across the Mingjiang River.
Jiazhou Hotel is the first three-star hotel in Leshan concerning foreign affairs, which is located on the bank of Daduhe River opposite the Grand Buddha and the Sleeping Buddha, not far from Mt. The Jiurifeng hotel (Jiurifeng Binguan) is located 3km from the city center and the unique location here cannot be found anywhere else in the world, situated right above the head of the giant Leshan Grand Buddha in an area very close to the Grand Buddha Temple. According to Buddhist belief, a single look at the Grand Buddha brings good luck, so a pleasant nights sleep above it should bring great fortune!
The Jinhaitang Hotel (jinhaitang dajiudian) is a three-star international hotel, located in the center of Leshan. It is not far from the world famous Giant Buddha. There are 5 different villas and 120 guestrooms. All the rooms within the hotel are equipped with central air-conditioning, TV, DDD and mini bar.The hotel Chinese restaurant mainly serves Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine. There is also a western restaurant.
Leshan Education Hotel (Leshan Jiaoyu Binguan) is attached to the Leshan Educational research institute, and this is probably the best value hotel in the area for backpackers.
The hotel is not far from the picturesque Mingjiang river and it is possible to walk from the hotel to the Mingjiang River bank. The legendary Leshan Giant Buddha is just 2km away.
Ideally located on a small island outside by the cross-section of the Mingjiang and Daduhe Rivers, the Xiandao Hotel (Xiandao Dajiudian) is peacefully isolated from the tourist center while only a ten-minute walk from the Giant Buddha. Just as the name of the hotel describes (Xiandao means immortal’s island in Chinese), the hotel is a peaceful oasis of tranquility and harmony.
