Lishuiyan Inn was built in the style of the Si He Yuan, or four-sided, courtyard house, heavily influenced by the Naxi minority. Lijiang is an intimate mountain town boasting a history of more than 800 years. The local people consist, mainly, of the rugged Naxi ethnic minority, famous for their colorful dress and matriarchal society, as well as their unique writing system.

The wooden, courtyard style building contains four, inward facing sides with a beautiful courtyard and garden within. Although it was fashioned by well-known designers, the building retains the charm of old China.

There is a small movie bar in the hotel, offering many Chinese and international movies. In addition, the bar counter sells genuine Yunnan Coffee, famed worldwide for its robust and rich flavor, which can be ground and made on site, retaining its freshness.
