Frommer’s Review
The specialty at this popular restaurant housed in a huge five-story Chinese-style building is the famous Luoya¡ng Shuixà (Water Banquet), consisting of 8 cold and 16 hot dishes variously cooked in broth, soup, or juice (examples include zhenyancai, a soup made of ham, radish, mushrooms, and eggs; and ma¬zhi tudou, sweet potato fries in syrup). The full complement of dishes, designed for a table of 10 people, costs ¥688 ($86), but happily, the first floor dining hall offers more reasonably sized four-dish or five-dish mini-banquets. The staff is a little surly, but this is a unique local dining experience that shouldn’t be missed.
