For the self tours, you will need to get a free tourist map to find the your destinations.
Our two days tours will cover most of Macau’s attractions.
Instead of starting our in Leal Senado Square like other traditional tours; our 2 days tour will begin at Temple of Kun Iam at 9:00am.
Day 1
9:00 am What is better than to begin the day by eating a traditional local breakfast? We will eat at “Pui Ke Hung Heng cafe”, Ave do Conselhrieo Ferreiro. Although the store might look small and old, but it famous for its congee and “fun chong”, kind of like steamed noodle. It is quite popular among the locals.
(warning! 3 out of 4 of my foreigner friends do not like this!)
9:20 am After our delicious breakdast, we’ll go to the Temple of Kun Iam to see a traditional Chinese temple, which is just a street away from where we ate our breakfast.
9:40 am When you finished touring the temple, start walking to the Flora Garden, should take about 10 minutes. When we to the park, buy a one way cable car ticket to go up to the Guia Hill. After getting off the cable car, go left for about 10 minutes and we will arrive at the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia and the infamous Light House. Take in the senic view above the top of the Guia Hill, it is the best in Macau.
When you finished viewing the Macau, starting walking back to the cable car station, but this time we will walk down the hill on foot. The whole trip should take about 30 minutes. When you are at the park, you can enjoy the miniture zoo there and take a rest from the walking.
11:15 am After our rest, walk across the street to the Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial House to learn about the founding father of modern China.
11:40 am Now we will walk to the Lou Lim Ieco Garden, which should only takes 5 minutes. You will see a classic Chinese garden. Take your time here and relax for a bit.
12:15 pm After a tiring, but exciting morning, it is now time to eat lunch. Our first choice is the a noodle shop across the street, it is famous for its wanton noodle. If you don’t like wanton noodle, we can start walking to our next destination the Leal Senado Square. You’ll find many great eating place here, like the world famous McDonald for instance…
1:30 pm After our lunch, we should be at the Leal Senado Square already. You can walk from Lou Lin Ieco Garden, which should takes about 20 minutes. You can also get there by taking the bus or taxi.
1:35 pm From the the Leal Senado Square, you can see cobblestone pavement, in the classic European style. You can cross the street and visit the colonial Leal Senado Building or the Central Post Office or just visit the shops here.
2:15 pm When you finished touring the square, walk to the St. Dominic Church in the square. A nicely renovated church at the heart of the city, with a museum on the top floors.
2:35 pm Now we will head to the Ruin of St. Paul’s Church, the symbol of Macau. At the back of the ruin is the small Museum of Sacred Art, which display Christian relics from around the city.
2:55 pm It is now time to go to the Macau Museum. arcoss the street in the Monte Fort. Take the elevator at the entrance to go up to the museum. You will learn much about Macau at the museum here.
4:00 pm When you finish touring the museum, you can exit at the top of the historic Monte Fort. Take some pictures from the Monte Fort and start walking back down to the Leal Senado Sqaure.
4:20 pm Now such a long day, it is time to go back to your hotel to take a shower and take a rest. You should be able to find transportation from the Leal Senado Square.
7:00 pm Take a nice little nap, it is time to eat a Macanese dinner. If you are in Macau, go can the infamous Fat Siu Lau, or the Dom Galo or Restaurant Peter Pan at the Waterfront.
You can also choose Si Van Restaurant, Sol Nascente, or the Galo in Taipa.
The Balichao and Fernando’s in Coloane is also quite good and famous here.
9:00 pm After a fine diner, it is time to hit the high roll at the Lisboa Casino. Try out your good luck! You can also go see the optional Crazy Paris Show at the Hotel Lisboa.
10:45 pm Now you tried your luck, we will head (by taxi) to our last destination of the day, the waterfront “Wong Chui”. First go see the Statue of Kum Iam and the scenic view.
11:00 pm Now it time to enjoy the Macau night life at Wong Chui. Chose a bar that fit your taste.
Day 2
Having a car would be a great transportation today, but you can still travel by walking or taking buses. If you are walking, you will need to push the schedule a bit further apart.
9:00 am Eat breakfast at a local cafe or your hotel.
9:30 am Finish your breakfast and take a ride to the Barra Point
10:00 am First, we will head to the Maritime Museum to learn more about Macau maritime history.
11:00 am Now head across the street to Temple of A-Ma to see the oldest temple in Macau
11:15 am Go to the Chapel of our Lady of Penha to view Macau. This offers a great place to see the southern side of Macau and taipa from here.
11:35 am Pass by the The Government House to take pictures of this PinK Palace. unfortunatly, we can’t go inside without an invitation.
11:50 am Go by the road on the outer Nam Van Lake and see The Gateway of Understanding.
12:00 pm Now we will head to the Wine Museum and the Grand Prix Museum.
1:00 pm Now it is about to eat lunch. We can eat lunch in around here or in Taipa. With this concludes our tour in the Macau peninsula. Now we will head to the outlying Island .
1:30 pm First stop is Monumento de Taipa , the sculpture tells the story of the Macanese’ every day life, this is also the best point to take pictures of Macau.
1:40 pm Next Stop is the Pui Tai Un Temple down the hill to see the largest Buddha statue in Macau.
1:50 pm Our last stop in Taipa is the Taipa Village, the Chapel of Our Lady of Carmel, Taipa House Museum. We will stay for about 40 minutes here to complete all the sightseeing.
2:30 pm Now we’ll head to the last island in Macau, the Coloane Island. We will first drive up the hill to reach the Statue of A-Ma. On a clear day, you can see China, Macau, Taipa and most of Coloane from here.
3:00 pm It is now time to go to the Coloane Village. Take a slow walk around the village, you’ll find the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier. The atmoshpere is very unique in Macau. If you are hungry, go to the Lord Stow’s Bakery to eat one of the famous Portugese Egg Tart.
4:00 pm An hour should be enough to see all of Coloane Village. Now we will head to the Hac Sa Beach to enjoy the nice view. If you like, you can take a swim here.
That conlcludes our tour in Macau. With the time left in the day, you can use the free time to do a little shopping before you leave.
