From time immemorial, Jiangnan, on the Yangtze River, has been the centre of cultural and economic development in China. Ancient towns and scenic lakes, quiet streets and secluded houses with whitewashed walls and black roofs tell their own stories; a sense of archaic beauty and serene peacefulness entices the visitor to linger.
Local photographer Lai Wing Chiu has been nominated as one of the best ten photographers by the World Photographic Salon. He had won more than 500 prizes and his accomplishments earned him a Diamond Star Rating in 1992, bestowed by the Photographic Society of America. This exhibition features approximately 70 black and white photos, which reveal the power of photography in projecting truthfully portrayed moments in time.
