The Cultural Institute of the Macao SAR Government will usher in the new musical season with the 18th Macao International Music Festival, scheduled to run from 8 to 31 October 2004.

For 17 years, the Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) has invited many famous artists and exceptional orchestras from all over the world. This year, 15 splendid programmes over a total of 20 performances will bring audiences a sense of romanticism.

In keeping with the Cultural Institute’s policy of promoting heritage sites throughout the city, there will be eight concerts in 4 different churches, at the Mount Fortress and at the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Some of these monuments are included in the list of Macao historical monuments bidding for UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The remaining performances will take place in other venues representative of the city’s modernity, such as the Macao Cultural Centre and at Macau Tower
