1 April to 28 May - Depth of Shadow - Sculptures by Korean Artist Lee Yong Deok

Professor Lee Yong Deok is a celebrated Korean sculptor who mainly produces intaglio work in outstanding three-dimension. He likes to capture all kinds of natural surfaces and uses them as his themes. In the transformation process of plane surface and three dimensions, reality and illusion sit side by side. Light and shadow produce changes in his works, and as the audience moves around and sees the transformation, they witness the sudden appearance and disappearance of the wonderful effects of the figures in the works. This kind of sculpture has never been exhibited in Macau before, thus it is believed that it can provide local residents with a fresh new insight into the art experience.

This exhibition will feature a total of 28 pieces created by Professor Lee over the past five years, including a large film slide projector device entitled ‘Salute and Farewell’ that enables the audience to see different poses in a dark room with the aid of lamplights projecting them onto a parma green shield. In addition to appreciating these works, the audience can participate in creating exhibition works, which will undoubtedly increase the delight of visiting the exhibition.

A free seminar will be held on Friday 5th March from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the auditorium on the first floor of the Macau Museum of Art. The seminar - to be delivered in Korean, with Mandarin translation - welcomes interested parties to partake.
