The international airport is 35km southwest of Nanning, with an airport bus or city bus #301 (RMB10) to the CAAC offices or train station respectively - taking a taxi costs around RMB100. In the city itself, a taxi trip shouldn’t cost more than RMB10, and Chaoyang Lu is covered along its length by city bus #6.

Apart from destinations within China, including Guilin, Guiyang, Kunming, Guangzhou and Hong Kong, there are also direct flights to Bangkok and Hanoi. CAAC (China Southwest) is next to the long-distance bus station on Chaoyang Lu ( 0771/2416496 or 2431459, www.travelsky. com); you can also arrange flights, through the CITS (see “Listings” p.816). The airport bus (RMB10) leaves from the CAAC office and takes forty minutes; city bus #301 passes the train station and takes- around an hour.
