This five-star hotel could have at least seven more stars added to its rating and it would still not be enough. Besides its shamelessly posh rooms this pamper-palace is also known as being the home to the famous Tsing Tao Brewery-the largest in China. Its Shang Palace restaurant enjoys national recognition too for its shockingly tasty Cantonese dishes. Tennis courts, a sauna and an indoor swimming pool all add to the hotel’s self-contained “there-is-no-reason-to step-outside” feel.
A five-star rating is too modest for this plush palace. It deserves so many stars that it should be given a Milky Way rating. Its waterfront location rewards each room with postcard-type settings of downtown and the Yellow Sea. Dining choices include five on-site restaurants that specialize in Korean, Western, Muslim, Chinese and Japanese dishes. Tennis courts, bowling alleys, karaoke, and a chess and card room make for perfect recreational options. For added convenience, the staff speaks German, English and Japanese.
