Buses Qingdao’s shambolic long-distance bus sta- tion is just west of the train station. Aside from Ji’nan (4hr 30min; RMB95), Yantai is the only interesting destination within easy reach by bus.
Bus #6 is a useful service, going fi’om the top of Zhongshan Lu down towards the train station, then heading east along the seafront, getting close to Number 1 beach and terminating near the entrance to Zhongshan Park. Other useful mutes are the #300 series (#304, #311, #312 & #316), which go between Zhanqiao Pier near the train station along the coast to the eastern sec- tor. Private minibuses also run on most bus routes. They’re more common, faster, but a little more expensive.
The 1ong-distance bus station is just behind and to the west of the train station; the expressway has now cut the journey time from Ji’nan to four and a half hours (RMB95). The passenger ferry terminal, with services fi’om Dalian and Shanghai, is in the grotty north of town, with a few cheap hotels nearby. To get to the seafront fi’om here, take bus #215 south, get off halfway down Shenxian Lu, opposite Xiaogang Port, walk east to the end of Zhongshan Lu and catch a 6. Or go to the last stop of the #21.5 route, walk south down to Guizhou Lu and catch bus #25 east. Get off just after Huilange Pavilion, before it turns up Daxue Lu. As this is pretty involved, it’s a Jot easier just to get a taxi if you are arriving with luggage.
