Three floors and hundqingdao municipal museumreds of artefacts compose the Qingdao Municipal Museum, the official history museum for the city of Qingdao. Here you can learn about the makings of the land that became Qingdao and the ancient peoples that once lived here. Among the artifacts gathered are some restored pottery and sculptures, as well as some primitive tools. The upper floors feature rooms dedicated to cultural history, including an excellent exhibit on the many forms of Chinese currency. There are English translations of each item, though these often require a second interpretation for coherency.
Admission is 20RMB per person. There is an option to rent an audio guide for 10RMB with a 200RMB deposit. The museum houses two small book stores, both primarily with art books, though there are some history books as well. Most are in Chinese.

The Qingdao Municipal Museum is across the street from the Qingdao International Convention Center, and in the same building as the Haier Science Museum. It is easily accessible by taking buses 230, 375, and 606. It’s also possible to take buses 321, 313, 104, 110, 301, and 304 by alighting at the Kilin Crown Hotel stop and walking northeast towards the Convention Center.
