Qufu is a city with abundant sunshine and distinct seasons. The hottest month is July, with an average temperature of about 27.4℃, while the coldest month is January, with an average temperature of about 1.4℃. Southerly winds blow in all seasons, with the exception of the occasional winter northerlies.
June, July, August and September (especially July and August) are months with much rainfall. July has peak rainfall, averaging 217.2 mm, while January has the least, only 6.3 mm.
All seasons are suitable for a trip here, but between March and November Qufu hits the hot season and is popular. Confucius’ birthday also falls during this time (late September in the lunar calendar, often falling on September 28).
