Closer to the bus station, the bizarrely named Shiyou Zhaodaisuo (Petroleum Hostel), a busy block of tiny rooms at the eastern end of Yingpan Lu, is Kaili’s budget option. Farther down Yingpan Lu, a lane leads up into the grounds of the reasonable Yingpanpo Binguan ( Tel 0855/223163), whose rooms are elderly but sound.
