The Sanya Zhuoyuetianya Museum of Paleontology Fossils covers a land of 2.4 hectares by the beauty spot End of the Earth and has an exhibition area of 900 square meters. It will display 300 exhibits including fossils as precious as national treasures. The construction investment of the museum will reach more than 200 million yuan. It is the largest private museum in China. According to Li Yuezhuo the Sanya Zhuoyuetianya Museum of Paleontology Fossils is another private paleontology museum built by him after the Liaoning Panjin Li Yuezhuo Museum of Paleontology Fossils (in 2000) and the Beijing World Park Paleontology Museum (in 2002). The museum has signed a cooperation agreement with Beijing Natural History Museum and the US Hollywood Empire Entertainment, which arranges for the tour exhibition of Li Yuezhuo’s many precious fossils in the United States and the promotion activities of China’s paleontology fossils.
Li Yuezhuo is a renowned private collector in China, who has collected more than 2,000 pieces of paleontology fossils in nearly 30 years. Of them the Liaoxi Rehe paleontology fossils from late Jurassic Period of the Mesozoic Era accounts for the majority. Much of the collection donated by Li Yuezhuo has received great attention from experts both domestic and overseas. As for now many achievements of research on paleontology fossils in China come from the study of Li Yuezhuo’s collection.
In order to commend Li Yuezhuo for his contribution to the preservation of rare cultural inheritance former governor of Nevada of the US, chairman of Sino American Trade Development Association Luo Haomin and China-US Cultural Ambassador Li Kaiwen conferred the California State Award on Li Yuezhuo Thursday in Sanya. The California State Award is set up by the state government of California to commend persons who have made remarkable contributions to world culture and arts. Li Yuezhuo is the first Chinese private collector to have received this award.
