If you want a more comfortable place to stay, head to Gyantse. The Gyantse Hotel is the only option here. This hotel has a shiny lobby and rooms with attached bathroom, 24 hour hot water. But it is overpriced (RMB450 for a double room). Some travelers try to ignore regulations about where they are permitted to stay . If you do want to run the risk, try the Hostel of Gyantse Town Furniture Factory on the main junction. Rooms here are clean and there is a nice sitting area with a great view of the fort. The Hotel of Nationality Clothing Company is popular among western tourists. Both of these have no washing facilities and dorm beds cost around RMB30.
