Accommodation and eating
There’s not a great choice of hotels in Shijiazhuang, but with Beijing only a
few hours’journey away, it’s unlikely you’ll need to stay more than a night here
anyway.

Hebei 168 Yucai Jie 0311/5815961,
5814092. This three-star, eight-storey block in
the quiet eastern side of town dominates the sur-
rounding Iow buildings. The hotel has two restau-
rants, a nightclub and a karaoke lounge, and they
can book train tickets for you.

Hebei Teachers’ University Yuhua Lu
00311/6049941. The foreign teachers’ dormitory
is a cheap and friendly place to stay, offering well-
maintained double rooms. Go through the main
gate, take the first left and the building is on the
right, signposted in English. Take bus #6 from the
train station. There are plenty of small restaurants
and street stalls in the vicinity. Dorm beds 15 RMB.

Yanchun Garden Hotel 195 Zhongshan Donglu
0311/6671188, 6048689. ShJjiazhuang’s
newest and nicest hotel with all mod cons, beside
People’s Square on the main drag.

Zhongjing 176 Zhongshan Donglu
0311/6032551, 6032069. This stylish, Iow-
key place has helpful staff and a good location on
the main thoroughfare.
