Day 1 - 40 km - Cycle southwest down one of the peninsulas in Lake Taihu to Dongshan and visit the Purple Gold Nunnery and gardens.
Day 2 - 60 km - Take a ferry to the south shore and then cycle to Tongxian along mostly country roads, then take transport to Hangzhou crossing the Grand Canal along the way. In Hangzhou visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion and West Lake in the evening.
Day 3 - 60 km - Take transport 35 km west to Yuanjia and then cycle to the Tianmu Nature Reserve renown for ancient forest of Ginko and huge Gold Coin pine.
Day 4 - 31 km - Cycle to Lin’an and take bus transport to Shanghai.
Cycling Tour Level: Moderate. Alternative transportation will be used when needed.
Total Cycling Distance: Approximately 117 miles (191 km): Average distance per ride day: 29 miles (48 km) Cycling will be supplemented with vehicle transport on some days to reach the next destination.
Rules of Participation
Everyone who participates in a Cycle Tour activity is asked to read, agree to the following:
1. I will not hold Lonely China, or any of its participants responsible for any injury that I suffer on any Cycle Tour excursion.
2. I will follow the guidelines set forth by Lonely China in order to insure my safety during my involvement with this group.
3. If I have medications that have special needs, or if I have health problems chronic in nature, I will inform the leaders of the group of my situation. Privacy will be assured.
4. I will not bring illegal drugs to any Lonely China gathering or activity.
5. I understand that this club is not capable of sponsoring extremist sports activities, and I will not engage in extremist sports while involved in a Lonely China function.
6. I will leave the group peacefully if I cannot meet these guidelines stated in this document.
7. I understand that I am taking my own risks while participating with the group, and that I do not hold anyone responsible for those risks.
