Just south of here on Xingshan Xijie, in Xinfeng Park, accessible down a nar- row market street, the small Daxingshan Si (daily 8am 6pm;RMB10) is usually overlooked by visitors, but is worth a visit. It was destroyed in the Tang persecution of Buddhism, and thus today’s small, low buildings are mainly Qing and Ming. This is the only working Buddhist temple in Xl’an, and monks in baggy orange trousers will write your name on a prayer sheet in the main hall for a donation.
