Xi’an is one of the most ancient cities in China and strategically situated at the start of the Silk road. It is also one of the famous spots in the country for travelers to visit. As such, finding accommodation here should not be a problem, except perhaps during peak season. As with most cities in China, it is best to book your accommodation in advance wherever possible.
Although there are a wealth of hotels in the city, the majority of these are at the top end of the scale (RMB 500-1000). Amongst the best for location are the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and the Bell Tower Hotel. If you don’t mind staying outside the city center, then the Sheraton Hotel provide good service and lovely rooms.
The location of many of the mid range (RMB 300-500) places tends to be outside the city center or walls but some of these hotels are excellent value for money. The Jianguo Hotel and the Xi’an Le Garden are both nice places.
For those on a tight budget there is really only one option, the crowded but fun, Flats of the Renmin Hotel. This is a popular place with foreigners and the location is good for bars and cafes.
