The train station, in the north- west of town, is at the terminus of two lines, one to Qingdao and one to Ji’nan. Ferries arrive at the passenger-ferry terminal in the northwest of town, which is packed in summer with peasants beginning their annual migration to Manchuria For the harvest. There are ferries to Dalian, Shanghai and Tianjin, but note that if you want to be on one of the express services to Dalian, you’ll only be able to buy tickets on the day of travel. For aRMB20 surcharge, a window at the main booking hall beside the train station sells onward train tickets from Dalian. The bus from Qingdao rockets along an expressway and terminates at the long-distance bus station on Qingnian Lu, southwest of the train station.
