Day 01: Entry Beijing
Upon your arrival in Beijing—the capital of China, our professional tour guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer to your hotel with air-conditioned private car. City tour if time permits.
Zhangye Package Day 02: Beijing
Visit 1. The Great Wall, a man-made wonder which is said to be visible from the moon, construction of the Great Wall started in the 7th century B.C. The vassal states under the Zhou Dynasty (C.11th Century-256 B.C.) in the northern parts of the country each built their own walls for defence purposes. After the state of Qin unified China in 221 B.C., it joined the walls to hold off the invaders from the Xiongnu tribes in the north and extended them to more than 10,000 li or 5,000 kilometers.
2. The Sacred Way and Stone Statues, a 7-kilometer-long sacred way flanked by 18 pairs of giant stone statues of men and animals as important decorations of the grounds, in which the ancients believed the spirits of the royal dead to walk on.
3. The Ming Tombs, where 13 emperors of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) were buried.
Day 03: Beijing
Visit 1. The Forbidden City, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties, it is the world’s largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. Surrounded by a six meter deep moat and a ten meter high wall are 9,999 buildings.
2. The Tian’anmen Square, where you can visit Tian’anmen Tower, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, it is the must place to visit in Beijing City.
3. The Temple of Heaven, it is a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world’s great civilizations, and had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries.
4. Beijing Opera and Beijing Duck are served in the evening.
Day 04: Beijing–Urumqi
Visit The Summer Palace, the best preserved and the second largest royal garden in China, with a history of over 800 years.

Day 05: Urumqi–Turpan
Morning drive to Turpan in the morning and transfer to the hotel. Visit 1. The Jiaohe Ruins, Jiaohe meaning the confluence of two rivers once stood an ancient city since the Han dynasty, nearly two thousand years ago. It ended during Ming dynasty about 500 years ago. It started out as a garrison, but was built up by during the Reign of Gaochang into a major city in the Turfan region from 499-640 A.D.
2. the Karez Well, The Karez is an underground irrigation system that was installed 2,000 years ago. The karez is made up of three parts, ditch, underground channel and dam.
3. The Sugong Pagoda.
Day 06: Turpan–Dunhuang
Visit 1. The Gaochang Ruins, the Uigur city-state that ruled the area from around the 9th century to the 13th. In its heyday, Gaochang was a great Uigur city built on the business and trade that came through its gates. The religious beliefs of many peoples entered China through this area, first Buddhism and later Islam.
2. The Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Caves, there are 77 numbered grottoes, about 40 of which still have murals in them. The group of grottoes in Bizaklik, with a total of 1,200 square meters of murals, has the most grottoes, most diversified architectural styles and the richest mural content in the Turpan area.
3. The Flaming Hill.
Take an overnight train (soft berth) to Dunhuang.
Day 07: Dunhuang
Arrive Dunhuang in the morning, transfer to your hotel, Visit 1. The Echoing-sand Dune, it offers best picture-book desert scenery. The dune, surrounded by rolling ridges and precipitous cliffs, reaches a relative height of 250 meters
2. The Crescent Lake, is said to be where the oasis meets the desert. Crescent lake was formed by spring water trickling up into a depression between huge sand dunes, forming a crescent-shaped pond.
3. the Mogao Grottoes. The Mogao Caves, also known as the Mogao Grottoes or the Caves of A Thousand Buddhas, are set into a cliff wall of Echoing Sand Mountain about 25km southeast of Dunhuang, the oasis city in the Gobi desert. This honeycomb of caves was constructed over a millennium, from the 4th to the 14th centuries, and represents the height of Buddhist art and the world’s richest treasure house of Buddhist sutras, murals and sculptures.
Day 08: Dunhuang–Jiayuguan
Morning drive to Jiayuguan in the morning and transfer to the hotel. Visit 1. the Jiayuguan Pass, Jiayuguan is the western end of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty as well as the most magnificent and best-preserved pass among the over thousand passes along the Ming Great Wall, known as “Impregnable Pass Under Heaven”. It took 168 years (1372 - 539) to build this strategic outpost.
2. the First Fire Tower of Great Wall.
Zhangye Package Day 09: Jiayuguan–Zhangye
Morning drive to Zhangye, transfer to your hotel. Visit 1. the Giant Buddha Temple, it was built in 1098 during the Western Xia period and revamped many times during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The main hall that house the giant Buddha was restored during th, Qianlong reign (1736-1795) of the Qing Dynasty The hall is 49 meters wide and 24 meters deep with a total floor space of 1,370 square meters It is the largest structure dating from the West ern Xia period in Gansu.
2. the Wooden Tower of Sui Dynasty. Just a few hundred meters north of the Zhangye Hotel looms the 31-metre-tall Mu Ta(Wooden Tower). It is unknown in exactly which year the pagoda was erected, but people generally believe it was during the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557-581 AD).
3. the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower.
Day 10: Zhangye–Xining
Morning drive to Xining, transfer to your hotel. Visit the Dongguan Mosque, Dongguan Mosque built round about 1830 is the biggest mosque in Qinghai.
Day 11: Xining
Visit the 1. Ta’er Monastery, the Monastery covers an area of 144 thousand square meters. It’s a group of buildings constructed on the mountain slope with lofty temples and halls rising one upon another.
2. Qinghai Lake, Qinghai means green lake in Chinese and this is the largest inland saltwater lake in China.
Day 12: Xining–Xi’an
Take a flight to Xi’an. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Visit 1. The Ancient City Wall, it is the best preserved, oldest and largest ancient city defence system in China, also one of the most important landmarks of the Xi’an city.
2. Forest of Stone Steles Museum, it is an art treasure-house with the oldest and richest collection of steles in China. It is not only one of the centers of ancient Chinese stone-engraving classics, but also the focus of the works of art of celebrated calligraphers of past dynasties. The numerous standing steles resemble a forest, hence the name ” Forest of Steles”‘. With a history of almost 900 years, it is an art gem renowned at home and abroad.
3. The Dumpling Dinner is served in the evening.
Day 13: Xi’an
Visit 1. The Terracotta Warriors Museum, The bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qing’s tomb, where you can see thousands of life size soldiers, standing in military formation with their vivid facial expressions frozen for eternity.Zhangye Tours
2. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda, it is one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas in China, first built in 652 in the Tang Dynasty, the square, multistoreyed, brick structure is sixty-four meters high. On a high mound, it seems to rise into the sky.
3. The Provincial History Museum, it has a collection of 370,000 pieces of historical relics, among which the most characteristic ones are the bronze wares of the Shang (C. 17th-11th Century B.C) and Zhou Dynasties (C.11th Century-256 B.C.), the pottery figures of different dynasties, the tomb frescoes, gold and silver utensils. There are over 2,000 pieces of bronze wares in the museum. Quite a few of them are national-grade rare relics, they have brought much influence to the field of historical relics.
4. The Tang Dynasty Show is served in the evening.
Day 14: Departure
