Sight Overview

As the provincial capital of the most densely populated province in China, Zhengzhou is a busy, crowded and modern city, unfortunately lacking the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Shanghai and Beijing and modern in a more boring sense of the word. High buildings, high tech parks and industry dominate and the architecture is a classic example of badly designed town planning, with major boulevards cutting across the old city ruins.

There are however, a few spots worthy of a look if you have time to kill in the city. The City Ruins are still impressive, especially considering the period they date back to. Locals treat this area in

the southeast of the city as a public park, strolling ground and all too frequently, a rubbish dump. The new Museum is impressive,

with English language signs and audio tours, allowing for an i

nteresting glimpse into the history of the province, and more specifically,

the Shang dynasty.

Essentially however, this is a a business and transport hub, and most

travelers will find
