ost typical scenic area of Mount Songshan the Central Sacred Mountains and a major part of Mount Songshan National Forest Park and National Geological Park.
Three-Emperor Stronghold is situated in the south of the Shaoshi Mountain, a major part of Songshan, 15 kilometers to the southwest of Dengfeng City proper and 103 kilometers to the southwest of Zhengzhou urban area. With the three Emperors of Heaven, Earth and Man worshiped here, the scenic area preserves over 40 natural and cultural sights. One of the most valuable points is the gelolgical structure here. In a fairly limited area, the traces of the 5 major gelolgical movements of the Archean, Proterozoic, Palaeozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic Eras can be clearly seen, so the geologists praise the mountain as a “natural geological museum.” Each year when the golden autumn comes, a wonderful view of red leaves appears, making this scenic spot a most representative site for enjoying red leaves in China.
